Two constant elements are embedded in FOR REC’s DNA: carefully listening to the market and a steadfast commitment to Research and Development. We firmly believe that true progress isn’t born from abstract intuitions but from a continuous dialogue with those who face the challenges of recycling in the field every day. Every one of our innovations is a response to concrete needs: How can we increase efficiency? How can we reduce operational costs? How can we guarantee absolute reliability, even in the most demanding conditions?
It is from this process of listening and analysis that our latest project originates. This isn’t just a simple update; it is the culmination of years of experience and a clear vision for the future of shredding.
We are proud to introduce the X3000TW single-shaft shredder, the machine that represents the most significant leap forward in quality in recent years. It is a solution engineered to overcome the historical limitations of shredding technology and to offer the market a new, advanced standard of performance, efficiency, and sustainability.
How was the X3000TW born? The limits of traditional shredding technologies
To fully grasp the magnitude of this leap in quality, it’s essential to analyze the compromises that industry operators have had to accept for decades. In the world of industrial shredding, power transmission has always been a critical challenge, historically relying on two main technologies: hydraulic and conventional mechanical systems.
Hydraulic systems have always been valued for their immense power, but this strength comes at a high operational and maintenance cost. Their complex architecture—comprising pumps, motors, valves, and large quantities of oil—requires constant maintenance to prevent failures and leaks. Energetically, they are inefficient systems: a large portion of energy is dissipated as heat, which in turn requires costly cooling systems and leads to significant electrical consumption, even when the machine is not actively working.
On the other hand, mechanical transmission systems with gear reducers offer greater energy efficiency but have limitations in terms of responsiveness and productivity. The inertia generated by the large rotating masses makes rotor reversals slow and cumbersome. These “downtimes,” repeated hundreds of times in a work shift, translate into lower hourly productivity. Furthermore, the mechanical shocks resulting from processing particularly tough materials can put a severe strain on transmission components, causing wear and requiring extraordinary maintenance.
For years, the choice was between the costly power of hydraulics and the less responsive efficiency of mechanics. FOR REC decided to end this compromise by developing a solution that no longer forces a choice.
The leap forward: torque motor technology
The key to overcoming these limits lies at the technological heart of the X3000TW: its latest-generation torque motors.
This is not simply a different type of motorization, but a superior design philosophy that redefines the very concept of industrial shredding.
The tangible and measurable advantages of this solution are as follows:
- Maximum torque: the X3000TW delivers exceptionally high maximum torque, right from the moment of start-up and even under load. This allows it to tackle the toughest materials without hesitation, ensuring constant and controlled power exactly where and when it’s needed.
- Total control and absolute precision: thanks to an encoder that constantly monitors the rotor’s position and communicates with the inverter, the X3000TW adjusts its rotation speed with pinpoint precision. The machine adapts its behavior in real-time based on the required effort, optimizing the process and achieving an efficiency unattainable by traditional systems.
- Energy efficiency: by eliminating the losses typical of hydraulic circuits and the friction of gear reducers, the drive ensures that nearly all absorbed energy is converted into useful work. The result is significant energy savings compared to traditional systems.
- Increased productivity: one of the most extraordinary advantages is the management of reversals. The X3000TW has an unlimited number of reversals and an extremely high reversal speed. This drastically minimizes downtime, significantly increasing hourly productivity and the overall efficiency of the work cycle.
