FOR REC SOLUTIONS FOR TYRE RECYCLING

Data updated to 2017 certify that in one year 3,424,500 tons of end-of-life tyres were produced with a 4% increase over the previous year.

This is why the issue of proper disposal of end-of-life tyres is becoming increasingly crucial in the treatment of industrial waste. While in Italy the management of this special waste is regulated by the Ecopneus consortium, other countries around the world are still unprepared to deal with it. Often end-of-life tyres are stored in landfills, but these ELT collection areas are teeming with insect pests and are at risk of spreading diseases and fires that are difficult to extinguish.

Fortunately, end-of-life tyres can be recovered and used in the manufacture of new products.

The TX1600 shredder

The TX1600 shredder, one of the most recent solutions proposed by FOR REC, was created with the aim of responding to the specific demands of the market, without neglecting productivity, which must never fall below 5 t/hour for the treatment to be economically sustainable.

The real innovation, however, is that the shredder is equipped with special “clean cut” blades to overcome the problem of fraying the steel wire contained in the rubber of the tyre. The product derived from shredding with this special double shaft shredder has such a quality that it is required in large quantities by cement factories as fuel, the so-called TDF “tyres derived fuel”.

We have already supplied a plant with the new technology to a customer in the United Arab Emirates who was looking for an effective solution for this specific need.

Although in many geographical areas the problem of tyre disposal still proves to be a difficult obstacle to overcome, FOR REC has shown that solutions can be successfully found and applied.
